Earth Hour was first celebrated in Singapore in 2009. Since then, participation in the event and the support for it has grown, year on year.

Singapore, as the home of Earth Hour, had the opportunity to host the Earth Hour Global Celebrity Ambassador, and the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the flagship event organised by WWF-Singapore at The Float @ Marina Bay on March 29, 2014. This gave the campaign a wide reach and inspiring more to become superheroes for the planet. This event was additionally graced by Ambassador Burhan Gafoor, Chief Negotiator for Climate Change and Dr Marco Lambertini, WWF International’s Director General.
Over 8,000 people participated in the Earth Hour event with 526 organisations pledging to switch off their lights and 29,662 individuals pledging commitment for the campaign's green actions.
