Phoenix - 8pm March 28, 2009
Phoenix turned out for Earth Hour in a big way! Residents, businesses and organizations sent a powerful message that the time has come to take action on climate change.
Arizonans joined people around the world by "turning out" to make a global statement and embrace simple changes that can reduce our impact on the planet. Turning off unneeded lights or changing to energy-efficient bulbs. Using water and other resources wisely. Encouraging others to do the same.
Major buildings, corporate offices, Phoenix landmarks and individuals across the Valley took part in Earth Hour. The city set a shining example of the power of people speaking out together.
Earth Hour 2008 was a chance to be heard – to speak with one united voice and commit to fighting climate change. Phoenix and every community in the U.S. that participated this year have set an example that others will follow.
After all, one person can make a difference. Cities, families, individuals and businesses coming together can change the world.
And it started with just one hour. Earth Hour.
